Abstract

The choice of Tanimbarese female ikat weavers to work in the public sector impacts their role in the domestic sector and their social role in society if not carried out in a balanced manner. However, this public sector work has a contribution to household income. This study aims to determine the role of Tanimbarese female ikat weavers and analyze the contribution of their income to household income in Ambon City. This study uses a descriptive analytical method with a sample of 30 female ikat weavers taken through total sampling. The results show that Tanimbarese female ikat weavers carry out domestic roles, public roles, and social roles. The average work time in the domestic sector is around 3.5 hours a day, in the public sector the average is around 10 hours. The social role of Tanimbarese female ikat weavers occurs only in the form of involvement in religious activities. The contribution of Tanimbarese female ikat weavers to household income is 51.30 percent with the largest use being to meet family needs
