Pengaruh Frekuensi Penyiangan Gulma Terhadap Nilai Kompetisi Pertumbuhan Dan Hasil Kedelai (Glycine max.L)
Abstract
Soybeans (Glycine max L.) are a strategic food commodity in Indonesia, but their productivity is still affected by competition with weeds. This study aims to determine the effect of weed weeding frequency on the growth, yield, and level of weed competition in soybean plants. The study was carried out on the grounds of Pattimura University, Rumah Tiga Village, in December 2025–March 2026 using a Group Random Design with eight replications. Treatments consisted of no weeding, weeding once at 2, 4, or 6 weeks after planting (MST), weeding twice at 2 and 4 MST, 4 and 6 MST, and 6 and 8 MST, and continuous weeding until harvest. Observations included weed vegetation, competition index (CI), growth, yield components, and plant dry weight. The results showed that Cyperus rotundus was the dominant weed with the highest SDR value in all treatments, while the weed community coefficient was relatively high (>75%). The frequency of weeding had a significant effect on plant height and leaf area index, as well as on the number of filled pods, hollow pods, weight of 100 seeds, and dry weight of the plant. Weeding twice resulted in better soybean growth and yield than without weeding. P4 treatment produced the highest number of filled pods (47.50 pods), while P7 produced the highest 100-seed weight (19.62 g).
