Efektifitas Ketinggian Perangkap Metil Eugenol terhadap Kelimpahan Lalat Buah (Bactrocera spp.) pada Pertanaman Jeruk Siam (Citrus nobilis Lour.)
Abstract
Fruit flies (Bactrocera spp.) are the main pests of Siam orange plants (Citrus nobilis Lour.) and can cause yield losses of up to 100%. Methyl eugenol traps have become an environmentally friendly control alternative, but their effectiveness is influenced by the trap height. This study aimed to find out how the height of methyl eugenol traps affects the number of fruit flies caught and to determine the most effective height. The study was conducted in January 2026 in a Siam orange orchard in Tamanmekar Village, Pangkalan District, Karawang Regency during the two months before harvest, using a single-factor Randomized Block Design (RBD). Five trap height treatments were applied: 50 cm (T1), 100 cm (T2), 150 cm (T3), 200 cm (T4), and 250 cm (T5) above the ground, each with five replications. The data were analyzed using ANOVA at a 5% level and followed by the DMRT 5% test. The results showed that trap height had a significant effect on the number of fruit flies caught (F = 3.024; Sig. = 0.018; p<0.05). The total catch over 30 days reached 2,080 individuals. The 50 cm height (T1) resulted in the highest average catch (7.01 individuals), which was not significantly different from T3 (6.37 individuals), but both were significantly different from T5 (3.67 individuals). Catch fluctuations were influenced by climate and the availability of alternative host plants around the area. The height of the methyl eugenol trap at a range of 50 cm to 200 cm above the ground is the most effective and recommended height for detecting and controlling fruit flies in siam orange plantations.
