Kualitas Tanah dan Air Irigasi Berdasarkan Parameter DHL, Salinitas, dan TDS di Kawasan Pesisir Rumah Tiga, Kota Ambon
Abstract
Seawater intrusion threatens groundwater quality in the coastal area of Rumah Tiga, Ambon City, where the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture (Faperta) Unpatti, residential settlements, and Dr. Leimena Central General Hospital are located. This study aims to analyze irrigation water quality based on Electrical Conductivity (EC), Salinity, and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) parameters as a result of the intrusion. The research was conducted along three 100-meter transects perpendicular to the shoreline. Soil samples were collected at a depth of 40 cm at 25-meter intervals. Well water samples were taken from Well 1 (transect 1, 86 m distance), Well 2 (transect 2, 80 m distance), and Well 3 (transect 3, 30 m distance). The results showed that at a distance of 5 m from the shore, the soil EC and salinity values were extremely high (>40,000 µS/cm and >26 ppt), indicating strong intrusion. These values decreased drastically at a distance of 25–50 m. However, an anomalous spike occurred at a distance of 75 m along Transects 1 and 2 (>1,500 µS/cm and 1 ppt). This directly impacted Well 1 and Well 2, which experienced moderate contamination (TDS >1,000 mg/L). Conversely, Well 3 (30 m distance) remained classified as fresh water (TDS 254 mg/L). Groundwater in Wells 1 and 2 has been affected by seawater intrusion, making it less suitable for irrigating sensitive crops, whereas Well 3 remains safe for use.
