Efektivitas Ekstrak Daun Cengkeh Dalam Menghambat Pertumbuhan Pectobacterium carotovorum Subsp. carotovorum Pada Sawi Putih
Abstract
Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. carotovorum (Pcc) is a bacterium that causes soft rot that reduces the quality and yield of chicory plants. This study aims to test the effectiveness of various types and concentrations of clove leaf extract in inhibiting the growth of Pcc in vitro and in vivo. The research was carried out at the Agricultural Cultivation Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Pattimura University in November 2025–January 2026. Clove leaf extract is obtained through the maceration method using sterile aqueducts as a solvent. In vitro tests used a factorial completely randomized design with factors of clove leaf extract type (Forest, King, and Tuni) and concentration (5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%), as well as positive control (chloramphenicol) and negative control (sterile aqueducts). The in vivo test used the two best treatments of the in vitro test results (C3K3 and C3K4), as well as positive and negative controls. The results of the variety-type analysis showed that the factors of the type of extract, the concentration of the extract, and the interaction of the two had a very significant effect on the diameter of the Pcc growth inhibition zone (p < 0.001). The C3K4 treatment resulted in the largest inhibition zone diameter, which was 10.23 mm. In the in vivo test, C3K4 treatment provided the highest inhibition against the development of soft rot symptoms, which was 69.43% based on symptom length and 47.62% based on symptom width at 7 days after inoculation. Thus, Tuni clove leaf extract with a concentration of 20% (C3K4) is the most effective treatment to inhibit the growth of Pcc and has the potential to be used as a plant-based pesticide in the control of soft rot in Chinese cabbage.
