National development in the field of developing quality Indonesian human resources through education is a serious and continuous effort to realize the complete Indonesian human being. Quality resources will determine the quality of personal, community and national life in order to anticipate, overcome problems and challenges that occur in society now and in the future. One of the problems faced by the Indonesian nation is the low quality of education, especially basic education. Various efforts have been made to improve the quality of national education, including through various trainings and improving the quality of teachers, improving the curriculum, procuring books and learning tools, improving educational facilities and infrastructure, and improving the quality of school management. However, various indicators of education quality have not shown adequate improvement. Efforts to improve the quality of education in Indonesia never stop. The government continues to make various new breakthroughs through school management, increasing educational staff resources, developing teaching material writing, and developing new paradigms with various learning models. But in reality it is still far from what was expected. Where all the improvements in the quality of education have not had an equal impact in Indonesia. The same thing happened at SD Negeri Karangguli Kab. Aru Islands. One way to improve this condition is to apply appropriate learning models. One of the learning models that can be used is to use the Snowball Throwing Learning Model). The snowball throwing learning model is a learning model with a game-like design that uses a sheet of paper filled with questions, formed like a ball made by each group and then throws questions at each other by getting the opportunity to answer questions worked on by the group that received the ball (Suprijono, 2011:37). Slamet Widodo (2011:45) also explains that the snowball throwing model is a modification of the questioning technique that focuses on the ability to make questions that are packaged in an interesting game, namely throwing snowballs with questions at each other. Based on the description of the explanation and the problems that occur, the Implementation of the Application of the Snowball Throwing Learning Model in Improving Science Learning Outcomes in the Small Border Islands of Class V Elementary School Karangguli, Aru Islands Regency can be applied in the teaching and learning process in class because it can help students improve their learning outcomes, especially on SD Science Materials. This can be proven by the final score of the first cycle of 10 students (76.92%) not completed and the second cycle of all 13 students (100%) completed. From the results of the final test of cycle I and cycle II, it shows an increase in learning outcomes. Successful learning was seen in cycle II because class processing by researchers from each cycle experienced an increase.
