Abstract

In supporting the needs of daily activities, transportation is used to facilitate movement. In the process of moving goods or services on transportation, one aspect that must be considered or considered in transportation is the selection of modes. Selection of a mode of transportation is chosen because of the shortest route factor or the fastest time or low cost or a combination of the three. Other influencing factors are safety and inconvenience. In Central Maluku Regency, there are several areas in Central Maluku Regency that are not served by public transportation and public transportation that operates during operating hours. The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of community movements to Masohi City and find out what factors influence the choice of transportation modes. The method used in this research is Descriptive quantitative and Multiple Linear Regression, with a research sample of 400 respondents. The research variables are road conditions, means of transportation, distance traveled, travel time and transportation costs. The results showed that the characteristics of community movement for the origin of movement all came from their place of residence with the purpose of movement dominated by Work activities which amounted to 48.75% and for school purposes amounted to 25.00%. People who start the movement towards the center of Masohi City choose the time of movement distributed since the morning, during operational hours or office and school hours with the mode used is dominated by public transportation and motorbikes. While the comfort and security variables affect or have a significant relationship to the selection of transportation modes. With the regression equation, namely Y = 1,583 + 0.016X1 - 0.001X2 + 0.463X3.
