Abstract
Coastal areas are ecosystems that are vulnerable to pollution and environmental degradation. Students as agents of change have an important role in environmental conservation efforts. This research aims to describe and analyze student participation in beach cleaning activities and planting five thousand mangroves with the community of Mangunharjo Village, West Semarang. The research method used is participatory research, involving students and the local community. The activity began with environmental education and outreach on the coast to increase public awareness about the importance of keeping beaches clean and utilizing mangrove plants. Furthermore, beach cleaning activities were carried out together with the active participation of students and the local community. The results show that student participation in beach cleaning and mangrove planting activities is very positive. The Mangunharjo Village community responded well to this activity and actively participated in environmental conservation efforts. This activity not only provides direct benefits in the form of a cleaner and healthier environment, but also builds collective awareness about the importance of protecting coastal ecosystems in the Mangunharjo sub-district. This service activity provides recommendations for involving more parties, including local governments, in efforts to preserve the coastal environment. In addition, it is necessary to carry out continuous evaluation and monitoring of post-activity environmental conditions, as well as expanding similar environmental conservation programs in other coastal areas.
