Ecology and Phenotic Variation Study of Seagrass in Coastal of Ambon Island
Abstract
The phenetic diversity of seagrass species in the coastal waters of Ambon Island is also still relatively limited, even the phenetic diversity of seagrass species in the coastal waters of Ambon Island based on morphometrics and meristics was only carried out in certain locations such as the coastal waters of Suli Village, Poka Village and Morela Village where there are still many locations in the waters of Ambon Island that have seagrass beds such as in the locations of Negeri Mamala Beach and Negeri Rutong Beach so this research is important to do. The purpose of this study was to determine the ecology of seagrass in the waters of Ambon Island, the phenetic variation of seagrass in the waters of Ambon Island and its implications in the higher plant botany practicum module. This type of research is descriptive, the research location is in the waters of Poka Village, Negeri Mamala and Negeri Rutong and the morphometric test is in the Basic Biology Laboratory of the Biology Education Study Program, FKIP, Pattimura University, Ambon. The sample in this study was 20 seagrass individuals of each type found in each location of Poka Village Beach, Mamala Village and Negeri Rutong Beach. Measurement of environmental factors such as temperature, salinity, pH (degree of acidity), and DO (dissolved oxygen). Data analysis was conducted to determine several ecological parameters of seagrass vegetation, including: species composition, density, and community structure (diversity, uniformity, dominance) and phenetic relationships of seagrass in the waters of Ambon Island. The results of the study showed that the ecology of seagrass in the waters of Ambon Island with a species composition consisting of 2 families, namely Hydrocharitaceae which includes 3 types of seagrass, namely Enhalus acoroides, Halophila ovalis, and Thalassia hemprichii and the Cymodoceaceae family, namely Halodule pinifolia. The phenetic kinship relationship of seagrass consists of 2 main clusters, in cluster 1 consisting of the species Halodule pinifolia and Halophila ovalis with a value of 61. In cluster 2 consisting of Enhalus acoroides and Thalassia hemprichii of 81. The integration results of the practicum guidance module can or is feasible to be used as a guide for the Higher Plant Botany course practicum with the assessment qualification being considered quite good
