Abstract
This Community Service Program (CSP) aimed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and participation of the community in preserving the Asilulu language through needs-based training. The program involved 41 participants and employed the Participatory Action Learning (PAL) approach, which actively engaged participants throughout the learning process. The evaluation results revealed a high level of participant satisfaction, with the mean scores for the twelve evaluation indicators ranging from 3.24 to 3.72 on a four-point Likert scale. Furthermore, the Participant Satisfaction Index (PSI) reached 89.3 on a 0–100 scale, which falls within the very good category, indicating that the training was relevant, beneficial, and responsive to participants' needs. In addition to improving participants' awareness of the importance of preserving the Asilulu language, the program also encouraged them to utilize digital media as an innovative tool for language revitalization. The program produced several tangible outputs, including a training module, a basic vocabulary handbook, instructional media, and recommendations for establishing a community-based language revitalization group to ensure program sustainability. These findings demonstrate that needs-based training is an effective strategy for strengthening the capacity of the Asilulu-speaking community while promoting participatory and sustainable efforts to preserve the language.
