Abstract

This community service activity aimed to enhance the competence of students in the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Pattimura University, in producing well-structured scientific articles that meet academic writing standards and in using Mendeley as a reference management tool. The activity was conducted through several stages, including material delivery, demonstrations, hands-on practice, mentoring, and evaluation of participants’ work. The training materials covered the structure of scientific articles, academic writing techniques, the identification and selection of scholarly sources, citation practices, and reference list preparation using Mendeley. The results demonstrated an improvement in students’ ability to organize scientific articles, apply appropriate citation practices, and manage references in a more systematic and efficient manner. The novelty of this activity lies in integrating scientific writing competencies with reference management technology through a practice-based training program. Therefore, this integrated training contributed to strengthening students’ academic competencies while fostering a culture of scientific writing. Similar activities should be implemented continuously through writing and scientific publication mentoring programs to support the development of language and arts education.
