Abstract

This community service activity aimed to enhance cross-cultural understanding and appreciation of Indonesian culture through the implementation of workshop involving participants from various countries. This workshop used experiential learning methods and a participatory approach, where participants are actively involved in direct experiences such as cooking traditional food, dancing, singing regional songs, and engaging in reflective discussions. In addition, the use of the YouTube platform is employed to support the workshop materials related to the introduction of Indonesian culture, in the form of dances, songs, and traditional foods. The activities were conducted face-to-face in Leipzig, Germany, using German as the primary language and supported by English so that all participants could understand the material well. The evaluation results show a very high level of satisfaction with the implementation, facilities, and personal benefits. There was a significant increase in participants' understanding of Indonesian culture, with the cooking session rated as the most effective. This workshop also demonstrated its ability to foster tolerance and sustained interest in Indonesian culture, as well as create a harmonious atmosphere of cross-cultural interaction. The novelty of this activity lies in the integration of practical, reflective, and participatory learning methods in an international context, the use of German as the primary language with English support to overcome communication challenges, and the utilization of the YouTube platform to support workshop materials related to the introduction of Indonesian culture, including dance, songs, and food. It is recommended that similar activities be developed regularly and adapted to various cultural education contexts to expand their positive impact.
