ESTIMASI KORELASI GENETIK BOBOT LAHIR INDUK DENGAN BOBOT SAPIH ANAK BABI DUROC DI UPTD PEMBIBITAN TERNAK PAGAL
ESTIMATION OF GENETIC CORRELATION BETWEEN SOW BIRTH WEIGHT AND WEANING WEIGHT OF DUROC PIGLETS AT THE PAGAL LIVESTOCK BREEDING CENTER
Abstract
Babi Duroc memiliki potensi besar dalam meningkatkan produksi daging yang berkualitas tinggi dan kemampuan tumbuh yang cepat, sehingga menjadi salah satu kunci sukses dalam meningkatkan produksi daging yang berkualitas tinggi dan memenuhi permintaan pasar. Peningkatan produksi ternak dan mutu genetik dapat dicapai melalui seleksi yang didasarkan pada parameter genetik, salah satunya adalah nilai estimasi korelasi genetik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui estimasi korelasi genetik antara bobot lahir induk dan bobot sapih anak babi Duroc yang dipelihara di UPTD Pagal Kabupaten Manggarai. Data rekording diambil dari 101 ekor anak babi Duroc yang merupakan keturunan 11 ekor induk dan 5 pejantan. Pengumpulan data secara kuantitatif diukur dan dianalisis secara statistik. Variabel yang diamati adalah bobot lahir induk dan bobot sapih anak. Parameter genetik yang dianalisis adalah korelasi genetik. Komponen ragam dan peragam dianalisis pada ragam dan peragam pola satu arah unbalanced design dengan model single pair mating. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rataan bobot lahir dari 11 ekor induk yang dikawini oleh 5 pejantan berbeda babi Duroc sebesar 1,66 kg dan rataan bobot sapih dari 101 ekor anak babi Duroc sebesar 7,19 kg. Nilai estimasi korelasi genetik antara bobot lahir induk dan bobot sapih anak sebesar -0,03 termasuk kategori negatif rendah, sehingga bobot lahir induk tidak dapat dijadikan sebagai indikator dasar seleksi dalam memprediksi bobot sapih anak babi Duroc di UPTD Pembibitan Ternak Pagal.
ABSTRACT
Duroc pigs have great potential in increasing high-quality meat production and fast growth ability, making it one of the keys to success in increasing high-quality meat production and meeting market demand. Increasing livestock production and genetic quality can be achieved through selection based on genetic parameters, one of which is the estimated value of genetic correlation. The purpose of this study was to determine the estimated genetic correlation between the birth weight of the sow and the weaning weight of Duroc piglets raised at the Pagal UPTD, Manggarai Regency. Recording data was taken from 101 Duroc piglets, which were the offspring of 11 sows and 5 bulls. Data collection was quantitatively measured and analyzed statistically. The variables observed were the birth weight of the sow and the weaning weight of the offspring. The genetic parameter analyzed was genetic correlation. The variance and variance components were analyzed in a one-way unbalanced design with a single pair mating model. The results of the study showed that the average birth weight of 11 sows mated by 5 different Duroc bulls was 1.66 kg, and the average weaning weight of 101 Duroc piglets was 7.19 kg. The estimated genetic correlation value between sow birth weight and offspring weaning weight of -0.03 is included in the low negative category, so that sow birth weight cannot be used as a basic selection indicator in predicting weaning weight of Duroc piglets at the Pagal Livestock Breeding UPTD.
