Abstract
Insect diversity plays an important role in maintaining the balance of food webs in an agricultural ecosystem. The purpose of this study was to identify insects present in banana plantations and what they are and to obtain data on the diversity and dominance of insects present in banana plantations. This study was conducted in two stages, namely field research at two banana plantation locations in Teluk Elpaputih District and laboratory research to identify collected insects. The study employed four different types of traps: pitfall traps, light traps, methyl eugonol traps, and yellow sticky traps. The findings revealed that there were 26 families, 9 orders, and 2942 individuals in banana plantations, with 10 families acting as pests and 10 families acting as natural enemies. The remaining species are pollinators and decomposers, with a diversity index (0.937) classified as low category and dominance (0.646) classified as high category.
