Abstract

Soap has become an essential commodity in society, primarily due to its dual functionality as a cleansing agent for removing cutaneous impurities and as a degreasing medium for food utensils. With the increasing demand for soap, training on small-scale soap production becomes essential. One effective pedagogical approach for such training involves the utilization of educational posters as a primary medium. This community service initiative aims to disseminate comprehensive knowledge regarding chemical constituents and standardized methodologies for liquid soap formulation through poster-based communication. This community service initiative was conducted at SD Negeri 292 Maluku Tengah, involving teachers and educational staff as the primary participants. The program implemented a Service-Learning (SL) methodology, which followed a structured framework consisting of three distinct phases: planning, implementation, and evaluation. The results of this community service initiative demonstrated a high level of engagement among participants toward the poster-based education on liquid soap formulation. Participants acquired comprehensive insights regarding raw material selection, production methodologies, and budget estimation analysis. The project team demonstrated the pre-formulated liquid soap products to the participants, followed by an immediate practical trial session. Based on the cost analysis, the estimated expenditure for producing 50 units of liquid soap was approximately IDR 883,000.00. This calculation offers participants valuable insights into establishing a liquid soap production business. Furthermore, this educational content can be integrated into the entrepreneurship curriculum for students at SD Negeri 292 Maluku Tengah. It can be concluded that this community service program successfully provided education and information on the raw materials, manufacturing processes, and cost estimation of liquid soap via poster media. Through this initiative, SD Negeri 292 Maluku Tengah is expected to adopt poster media as an educational medium for liquid soap production
