PENANAMAN ETIKA BERLALU LINTAS UNTUK MENEKAN ANGKA KECELAKAN ANAK
Abstract
The increase in road traffic accidents involving pedestrians and motorcycle users, with deaths among those aged 5 to 29 years primarily caused by traffic accidents. One elementary school located on a highway with vehicle volumes and speeds exceeding 30 km/h is Ujung Pandang Elementary School, situated on Gunung Latimojong Street in Makassar City. The purpose of this activity is to instill traffic ethics to protect students from the potential occurrence of traffic accidents. Activity observation was conducted by coordinating with the school. The target of the activity was students of Ujung Pandang Elementary School, carried out on May 22, 2026. The number of students who participated in this activity was 100. The methods used covered preparation for children to travel, pedestrian crossing etiquette, riding etiquette, and material on traffic lights and signs. The use of video-based learning and active interaction was employed in delivering the material to students. Students’ post-test results showed an increase in material comprehension to 100%. The delivery of traffic safety education had a significant effect on students’ understanding of the material presented. The results of the traffic safety education activity support the curriculum, which mandates this material for elementary school students in character development.
