INOVASI PAKAN BERBASIS POTENSI LOKAL UNTUK PENINGKATAN KAPASITAS KELOMPOK TANI TUNAS SIAGA
Abstract
The Tunas Siaga Livestock Farmer Group is confronted with significant challenges, including elevated commercial feed expenses, which account for 84% of total production costs, and constrained forage availability, leading to suboptimal average daily gain (ADG) for livestock. Indeed, the partner region possesses a wealth of local feed resources that have yet to be fully utilized. The objective of this community service program is to enhance the group's competencies and expertise in the production of innovative feed, with a focus on utilizing local resources. The methodology employed is Participatory Action Research (PAR), a multifaceted approach encompassing initial assessment, technical training in complete feed production, mentorship, and evaluation utilizing pre-tests and post-tests. The findings of the activity demonstrated a substantial enhancement in knowledge scores, with an average increase from 16.76 to 30.81, and in skills scores, with an average increase from 6.48 to 14.33. Furthermore, a significant proportion of the members, amounting to 76.1%, exhibited the capacity to produce feed autonomously, while the efficiency in feed costs was recorded at 45.71%. This innovation has been successful in achieving feed independence and strengthening the economy of the partner group.
