GALOGALOTERHUBUNG.ID: PEMBERDAYAAN KOMUNITAS SEKOLAH PEREMPUAN POMAKUMOTE MELALUI INOVASI TEKNOLOGI UNTUK PROMOSI POTENSI DESA GALO-GALO

Abstract

This community engagement program aimed to strengthen the capacity of the Pomakumote Women’s School (Sekolah Perempuan/SP Pomakumote) in Galo-Galo Village, Pulau Morotai Regency, in community management, documentation, content production, and the promotion of village potential through digital technology. The partners’ main challenges included predominantly manual administrative and documentation practices, limited use of information technology, and limited capacity for producing and publishing digital content. The program employed a participatory, empowerment-based approach through socialization, technology provision, digital literacy and skills training, hands-on practice using a learning-by-doing approach, website implementation, and mentoring. The technologies implemented included a laptop, digital storage media, the GaloGaloTerhubung.id website, and Starlink to support internet connectivity. Skills were evaluated using an observation sheet with three performance categories: independent, assisted, and unable. The results showed that the proportion of participants who could independently access and use the internet increased from 57.89% at the initial evaluation to 100% at the final evaluation, exceeding the minimum target of 70%. In addition, 78.57% of participants were able to independently produce simple digital content. The website was used as a publication medium and, based on hosting service statistics, recorded 735 unique visitors, 858 visits, and 5,146 page views during July–August 2026. However, independent website content management remained limited, with 35.71% of participants able to independently upload or manage content. The program therefore provides an initial foundation for the digital transformation of SP Pomakumote, while further support is needed to strengthen internal digital management, connectivity sustainability, and product licensing.
