Abstract

Fish catch production is one of the indicators of fishing activities and is related to the utilization of various production factors. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between vessel size, engine power, towing rope length, operating days, and catch production of Danish seine fishing units at Kluwut Fishing Port, Brebes Regency. The research was conducted from June to July 2026 using a quantitative approach. The research sample consisted of 17 fishing vessels selected randomly from a population of 170 vessels. The data collected included catch production, vessel size (GT), engine power (HP), towing rope length (m), and operating days. Data analysis was performed using Spearman rank correlation to determine the direction and strength of the relationship between each production factor and catch production. The results showed that all production factors had positive and significant relationships with catch production. Vessel size had a very strong positive relationship with a correlation coefficient of 0.936 (p<0.001), engine power had a strong positive relationship with a correlation coefficient of 0.754 (p<0.001), towing rope length had a very strong positive relationship with a correlation coefficient of 0.941 (p<0.001), and operating days had a very strong positive relationship with a correlation coefficient of 0.944 (p<0.001). Operating days had the strongest relationship with catch production, while engine power had the weakest relationship. The results indicate that increases in vessel size, engine power, towing rope length, and operating days tend to be associated with higher catch production in the fishing units studied.
