Archiving Policy

Open Journal Systems supports the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system to ensure a secure and permanent journal archive. LOCKSS is an open-source software developed at Stanford University Libraries that allows libraries to preserve selected web journals by conducting regular polls on registered journal websites for newly published content and archiving them. Each archive is continuously validated against the cache of other libraries, and if content is found to be corrupted or missing, another cache or journal is used to recover it.
