Abstract

This research tries to describe the form and purpose of expressive speech acts in the film Keluarga Cemara by Yandy Laurens. This sort of research is descriptive qualitative, with the aim of getting an objective account of the expressive utterances of the performers in the film Keluarga Cemara. The data gathering techniques employed in this study are the observation technique with the eavesdropping technique and the note-taking approach. Researchers conducted data analysis in four stages: data gathering, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of the study reveal that the forms and functions of expressive speech actions in the film Keluarga Cemara by Yandy comprise of direct and indirect speech acts, with functions including expressing thanks, congratulating, praising, apologizing, expressing displeasure, and accusing.
