Forms and Functions of Directive Speech Acts in the Mata Najwa Talk Show Program, Episode Panggung Dua Diva

Abstract

This research intends to describe the forms and functions of directed speech actions in the Mata Najwa talk show program, episode Panggung Dua Diva. The kind of this research is descriptive qualitative, with the goal of getting an objective account of directed utterances in the Mata Najwa talk show program, episode Panggung Dua Diva. The data gathering approaches employed in this study are the observation technique and the note-taking technique. Researchers conducted data analysis in four stages: data gathering, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of the investigation indicated that directed speech acts were present in the Mata Najwa talk show with the theme “Panggung Dua Diva KD dan Raisa” Four forms were identified: direct literal speech acts, indirect literal speech acts, direct non-literal speech acts, and indirect non-literal speech actions. Additionally, six functions of directive speech actions were found in the Mata Najwa talk show with the topic “Panggung Dua Diva KD dan Raisa”: commands, questions, requests, advise, prohibitions, and permissions.
