Crossmark Policy
Crossmark Policy
MATAI: International Journal of Language Education (ISSN: 2774-6356) participates in the Crossmark initiative from Crossref to provide a standard way for readers to locate the authoritative version of a document. By applying the Crossmark logo, MATAI is committing to maintaining the content it publishes and to alerting readers to changes if and when they occur.
Clicking on the Crossmark logo will tell you the current status of a document and may also give you additional publication record information about the document.
Policy Statement on Corrections and Retractions
MATAI: International Journal of Language Education recognizes the importance of the integrity and completeness of the scholarly record to researchers and librarians and attaches the highest importance to maintaining trust in the authority of its electronic archive.
We recognize that reliable publications, which serve as records of scholarship, must be permanent and available in their original form. However, occasionally there may be circumstances where a published article must be corrected or even retracted. Such actions will be taken after careful consideration by the Editor-in-Chief, in accordance with the guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
1. Corrections (Errata and Corrigenda)
Articles that have been published in MATAI can be corrected if there is a significant error in the metadata or the content that does not affect the validity of the findings.
-
Errata: Only used for major errors in the production process (e.g., critical formatting issues, missing data) that affect the scientific record or the reputation of the authors/journal.
-
Corrigenda: Used for errors made by the authors that do not compromise the overall validity of the results but need to be corrected for accuracy (e.g., error in a formula, labeled figure, or list of authors).
A correction notice will be linked to the original article, and the Crossmark data will be updated to reflect the correction.
2. Retractions
Retractions are reserved for articles that are seriously flawed and whose findings or conclusions can no longer be relied upon. Retractions may occur due to:
-
Honest error (e.g., miscalculation or experimental error) that invalidates the results.
-
Research misconduct (e.g., data fabrication).
-
Duplicate or overlapping publication.
-
Unethical research practices.
In the event of a retraction, a retraction notice will be published and linked to the original article. The original article will remain available (with a watermark indicating "RETRACTED") to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record, but the Crossmark status will clearly indicate that the article has been retracted.
3. Withdrawals
Article withdrawal is rare and typically only occurs for papers in the "Article in Press" stage (before assignment to a specific issue). Withdrawals may occur if the article contains errors, violates ethical codes, or is a duplicate submission.

MATAI uses the DOI prefix 10.30598. All articles and their associated Crossmark updates are linked permanently via their Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs).
