Statement of Ethical Conduct in Journal Publishing
This statement outlines the ethical behavior expected from all parties involved in the publication of articles in our journal, including authors, editors, peer reviewers, and the publisher. This statement is based on COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.
Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publications
Publishing articles in the Honoli Journal of Primary Teacher Education, which undergoes a peer-review process, is a fundamental element in developing a structured knowledge network. This publication reflects the quality of the authors' work and the institutions supporting them. Reviewed articles uphold and reflect scientific methods. Therefore, it is crucial for all parties involved in the publication process—authors, editors, reviewers, publishers, and the public—to agree on expected ethical behavior standards.
The Primary School Teacher Education Study Program (PSDKU) at Universitas Pattimura in Maluku Barat Daya is fully responsible for every stage of the journal’s publication. We are committed to ensuring that commercial aspects, such as advertisements and reprints, do not influence editorial decisions. The Editorial Board will also facilitate communication with other journals or publishers when necessary.
Publication Decision
The Honoli editor is responsible for determining which articles are suitable for publication based on the validity of the work and its significance to researchers and readers. This decision is guided by the journal’s editorial board policies and legal provisions regarding defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. Editors may consult fellow editors or peer reviewers when making decisions.
Fair Treatment
Editors evaluate each manuscript based on its intellectual content, regardless of the author’s race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic background, nationality, or political views.
Confidentiality
Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the corresponding author, peer reviewers, potential peer reviewers, editorial advisors, and the publisher, if relevant.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Unpublished materials in a submitted manuscript must not be used by editors in their own research without the author's written consent.
Responsibilities of Peer Reviewers
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
The peer-review process assists editors in making editorial decisions and, through editorial communication, helps authors improve their manuscripts.
Timeliness
Any reviewer who feels unqualified to review a manuscript or is unable to complete the review within the required time frame must notify the editor and withdraw from the review process.
Confidentiality
Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be discussed with others unless authorized by the editor.
Objectivity Standards
Reviews must be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is not permitted. Opinions should be clearly expressed and supported by appropriate arguments.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers must identify relevant works that have not been cited by the authors. If there is significant similarity to other published works, the reviewer must inform the editor.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Any privileged information or ideas obtained through the review process must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers must not review manuscripts where they have conflicts of interest with the authors, institutions, or companies associated with the work.
Responsibilities of Authors
Reporting Standards
Authors must present their research reports accurately and objectively. Data should be clearly and sufficiently detailed to allow replication. False or inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.
Data Access and Retention
Authors may be required to provide raw research data and should be prepared to grant public access to such data, if possible, and retain it for a reasonable period after publication.
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that the submitted work is original. If using the work or words of others, proper citation must be provided.
Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication
Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously. Submitting redundant or duplicate publications is considered unethical behavior.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors must cite publications that have significantly influenced their research.
Authorship of the Paper
Only individuals who have made significant contributions to the research should be listed as authors. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript before submission for publication.
Author Contributions
For transparency, authors are encouraged to include a statement of individual contributions in the paper, using CRediT roles such as Conceptualization, Data Collection, Formal Analysis, Funding Acquisition, Methodology, Project Administration, and Writing.
Changes in Authorship
Changes to the list of authors are only allowed before the article is accepted for publication and must be approved by the editor and all relevant authors.
Hazards and Human or Animal Subjects
If the research involves hazardous materials, procedures, or equipment, authors must clearly describe them in the manuscript.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
All sources of funding and potential conflicts of interest must be disclosed in the manuscript.
Errors in Published Works
If authors discover significant errors in their published work, they are obligated to promptly inform the editor and cooperate to correct or retract the article.
