Allegation of Research Misconduct

PAPALELE: Jurnal Penelitian Sosial Ekonomi Perikanan dan Kelautan takes allegations of research and publication misconduct seriously. Misconduct includes fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements, plagiarism in all its forms (passing off another’s paper as one’s own, copying or paraphrasing substantial parts of another’s work without attribution, or claiming results from research conducted by others), and multiple, redundant, or concurrent publication, such as submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time. Authorship misconduct, such as including inappropriate co-authors or omitting those who made significant contributions, is also regarded as unethical.

When an ethical complaint is presented concerning a submitted manuscript or a published paper, the editor, in conjunction with the publisher, takes reasonably responsive measures. These generally include contacting the author and giving due consideration to the complaint or claims made, and may include further communication with the relevant institutions and research bodies. Authors may be asked to provide the raw data related to the paper and should retain such data for a reasonable time after publication. If the complaint is upheld, the journal publishes a correction, retraction, expression of concern, or other relevant note. Every reported act of unethical publishing behavior is looked into, even if it is discovered years after publication.
