Author Guidelines

A. Focus and Scope

Jurnal Pendidikan Matematika (Jupitek) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing the field of mathematics education. It publishes high-quality, original research that contributes significantly to the knowledge base of teaching and learning mathematics. The journal welcomes empirical and theoretical studies across diverse contexts, with a particular interest in the following areas:

B. Manuscript Type and Structure

Jupitek publishes Original Research Articles. Manuscripts should be between 4,000 and 6,000 words (including references, tables, and figures) and must adhere to the following structure:

  1. Title Page: A separate file containing the title, author(s) information, affiliations, corresponding author's email, and a brief bio-data of all authors (optional).
  2. Main Manuscript: The main document should be anonymized for blind peer review and include the following sections in order:
    • Title (without author names)
    • Abstract
    • Keywords
    • Introduction
    • Method
    • Results and Discussion
    • Conclusion
    • Acknowledgements (optional)
    • References
    • Tables & Figures (placed at the end of the document, or embedded in the text)

C. General Formatting Requirements

  • Language: Manuscripts must be submitted in clear, academic English
  • Document: Use Microsoft Word (.docx) format.
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12-point for body text.
  • Spacing: Single line spacing.
  • Alignment: Justified.
  • Margins: 2 cm on all sides (Left, Right, Top, Bottom).
  • Page Size: A4 (210 x 297 mm).
  • Page Numbers: Include page numbers (e.g., bottom, center).

D. Detailed Section Guidelines

1. Title
  • Must be specific, effective, and clear.
  • Maximum of 15 words.
  • Avoid listing research locations, regulatory names, and non-standard abbreviations.
  • Format: Times New Roman 16pt, Bold, Centered.
2. Author Information (in main manuscript file)
  • List full author names (e.g., John Doe^1*^, Jane Smith^2^).
  • Use superscript numbers for affiliations.
  • Provide full institutional affiliation, including department, university, city, and country.
  • Clearly indicate the corresponding author with an asterisk (*) and provide their email (e.g., email@institution.ac.id).
  • Format: 11-point font.
3. Abstract
  • Must be a single paragraph, unstructured, and not exceeding 200 words.
  • It should concisely state the BackgroundMethods, key Results, and Conclusion/Implication of the study.
  • Must be an objective summary without undefined abbreviations or references.
4. Keywords
  • Provide 3 to 5 keywords.
  • List alphabetically and separate with a semicolon (;).
  • Exclude the journal name, regulatory names, and institution names.
  • Format: 11-point font.
5. Introduction
  • Provide a clear background, relevant literature review, problem statement, and gap analysis.
  • Explicitly state the novelty (state of the art) of your research by comparing it with previous studies.
  • End with the research objectives or questions.
6. Method
  • Describe with sufficient detail to allow for replication.
  • Use the past tense.
  • Include: research design, population and sample/participants, research instruments, data collection procedures, and data analysis techniques.
7. Results and Discussion
  • Present findings clearly, using tables and figures where appropriate.
  • Discuss the interpretation of the results in the context of existing literature and the research objectives.
  • Explain whether the findings support or contradict previous studies.
  • Highlight the significance and implications of your findings.
8. Conclusion
  • Provide a clear answer to the research problem.
  • Summarize the main findings without repeating the results verbatim.
  • Discuss the study's implications for theory, practice, or policy.
  • Acknowledge the study's limitations and suggest directions for future research.
  • Write in a descriptive paragraph form; do not use numbering or bullets.
9. Acknowledgements
  • Place acknowledgments and details of financial support here.
10. References
  • Use the APA 7th Edition citation style.
  • All in-text citations must be listed in the reference list, and vice-versa.
  • In-text citations should follow the (Author, Year) format.
  • We strongly recommend using a reference manager such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.
  • Examples:

E. Tables and Figures

  • Tables:
    • Number consecutively with Arabic numerals (e.g., Table 1.).
    • Place the title above the table.
    • Avoid vertical rules. Use horizontal rules only for the header and bottom.
  • Figures:
    • Number consecutively with Arabic numerals (e.g., Figure 1.).
    • Place the title below the figure.
    • Ensure all figures are clear and of high resolution (minimum 300 dpi).

F. Publication Ethics

Jupitek is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). We strictly prohibit plagiarism, data fabrication, and fraudulent publication. All submissions will be screened for plagiarism using iThenticate. By submitting a manuscript, authors agree to our full Publication Ethics policy, which details the responsibilities of authors, editors, and reviewers.

G. Submission and Peer Review Process

  1. Manuscripts are submitted through our Online Journal System (OJS).
  2. Submissions are first checked for compliance with these guidelines and plagiarism.
  3. Eligible manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process by at least two independent experts in the field.
  4. The editorial decision (Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, Reject) is based on the reviewers' recommendations.
  5. We strive to complete the initial review process within 60 days.

H. Copyright and Open Access

Upon acceptance, authors will be asked to sign a Copyright Transfer Agreement. Jupitek provides immediate open access to its content, making all articles freely available to read, download, and share. Articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY-SA 4.0).

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 10-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

License and Copyright Agreement

By submitting a manuscript to Jurnal Pendidikan Matematika (JUPITEK), the author(s) certify and agree to the following terms:

  1. Originality and Authority: The submitting author is authorized by all co-authors to enter into this agreement. The manuscript describes original work that has not been published previously in a peer-reviewed journal, nor is it under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  2. Approval: Its publication has been approved by all author(s) and by the responsible authorities of the institutions where the work was carried out.
  3. Rights: The authors secure the right to reproduce any material that has already been published or copyrighted elsewhere.
  4. Licensing and Copyright: Authors retain the copyright to their work.
  5. License Grant: The authors grant Jurnal Pendidikan Matematika (JUPITEK) the right of first publication, with the work simultaneously licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).
  6. Self-Archiving: Authors are permitted and encouraged to deposit the published version of their article in institutional repositories, on their personal websites, and other academic platforms, with proper acknowledgment of its initial publication in Jurnal Pendidikan Matematika (JUPITEK).

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.


Article Processing Charges (APCs)

Jurnal Pendidikan Matematika (JUPITEK) is an Open Access Journal and published under a Creative Commons license (CC BY-NC-SA).  Article Processing Charges (APCs) allow the publisher to make articles immediately available online to anyone to read and reuse upon publication. It supports the scientific community and the general public to get unlimited, free, and direct access to scientific articles. To be able to present with this license, we charge article loading fees (APC) to authors to support editorial activities, article production, and indexing. The article fee (APC) is IDR (Rp.) 500.000 to be paid after it is certain that the submitted articles are accepted for publication. The submission and review process is free of charge.

In order to increase the number of articles from outside Indonesia, Jurnal Pendidikan Matematika (JUPITEK), waiving the Processing Fee Article (APC) for non-Indonesian authors.
