Archiving Policy

Archiving and Digital Preservation Policy

KOMUNITAS: Jurnal Ilmu Sosiologi (COMMUNITY: Journal of Sociology), published by the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Pattimura University, Indonesia, is committed to maintaining the accessibility, integrity, and long-term availability of its scholarly publications.

The journal uses an electronic publishing platform to manage and disseminate its articles and bibliographic metadata. It also supports the discoverability and persistent identification of its publications through recognized scholarly information infrastructures.

1. Electronic Publication and Record Management

KOMUNITAS: Jurnal Ilmu Sosiologi manages its publications electronically through its official Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. The journal maintains digital records of published articles, including their full text, author information, abstracts, bibliographic metadata, publication details, and Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs), where applicable.

The journal makes its published articles available through its official website to support scholarly communication, research dissemination, citation, and academic reference.

2. GARUDA Indexing and Discoverability

The journal's publications are discoverable through GARUDA (Garba Rujukan Digital), an Indonesian scholarly information portal that facilitates access to scientific publications from Indonesian journals and other academic sources.

GARUDA supports the discoverability and retrieval of the journal's articles and bibliographic information. Its indexing and discovery functions complement the journal's electronic publishing system but do not, by themselves, constitute a guarantee of long-term digital preservation.

3. DOI Registration and Crossref Metadata

KOMUNITAS: Jurnal Ilmu Sosiologi assigns Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) to its published articles through Crossref, using the journal's DOI prefix 10.30598.

DOIs provide persistent identifiers that facilitate the identification, citation, and linking of scholarly publications. The journal is responsible for maintaining accurate article metadata and updating DOI records when necessary, including relevant changes to publication information and article URLs.

Although DOI registration and Crossref metadata services improve the persistent identification and discoverability of published articles, DOI registration alone does not guarantee the preservation of the full text of an article. The journal therefore recognizes the importance of complementary digital preservation measures.

4. Digital Preservation and Long-Term Accessibility

The journal seeks to maintain access to its published content and to minimize the risk of permanent loss resulting from technical failures, changes in publishing platforms, or other disruptions to digital access.

The journal will pursue appropriate digital preservation arrangements and review available preservation services to strengthen the long-term availability of its publications. Any participation in dedicated preservation services, such as LOCKSS, CLOCKSS, or other recognized digital archiving networks, will be identified on this website once formally implemented and verified.

5. Repository and Self-Archiving Policy

Authors may deposit their published articles in institutional repositories or other appropriate scholarly repositories in accordance with the journal's copyright, licensing, and open-access policies.

Where an article is deposited in a repository, authors are encouraged to provide complete bibliographic information, the original publication DOI, and a link to the version published on the journal's official website.

6. Integrity of the Scholarly Record

KOMUNITAS: Jurnal Ilmu Sosiologi is committed to preserving the integrity of its published scholarly record. Published articles will remain part of the journal's publication history, subject to applicable editorial and publication ethics procedures.

Corrections, retractions, and other post-publication updates will be handled in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies. Appropriate notices and metadata updates will be provided when necessary to maintain the accuracy and transparency of the scholarly record.

7. Policy Review

This policy will be reviewed periodically to reflect developments in digital publishing, metadata management, digital preservation standards, and the journal's participation in relevant scholarly infrastructure and archiving services.

Policy Statement: KOMUNITAS: Jurnal Ilmu Sosiologi is committed to electronic publication management, persistent identification through Crossref DOIs, discoverability through scholarly information portals such as GARUDA, and the continued development of reliable digital preservation practices.
