KOMUNITAS: Jurnal Ilmu Sosiologi (COMMUNITY: Journal of Sociology) recognizes the importance of post-publication discussion in promoting scholarly communication, critical engagement, and the continuous development of sociological knowledge. The journal welcomes constructive comments, scholarly criticism, and academic discussion concerning articles that have been published in the journal.
Post-publication discussion may address the theoretical framework, research methods, interpretation of findings, scholarly arguments, ethical considerations, or other aspects of a published article. Comments should be relevant to the article, supported by appropriate evidence or scholarly reasoning, and contribute constructively to academic discourse.
Readers who wish to comment on a published article may submit their comments to the editorial office through the journal's official communication channels. Submissions should clearly identify the article under discussion, state the principal points of concern or argument, and provide supporting references or evidence where appropriate.
Authors of the original article may be invited to respond to substantive comments. The journal may facilitate a scholarly exchange between the commentator and the original author when the discussion is considered relevant and beneficial to the academic community.
All submitted comments and responses are subject to editorial assessment before publication. The editors will evaluate their relevance, scholarly merit, factual basis, clarity, originality, and compliance with publication ethics. Where necessary, the editors may seek advice from independent experts or request revisions from the authors of the comment or response.
The journal reserves the right to reject submissions that are irrelevant, unsupported, defamatory, abusive, misleading, or inconsistent with academic standards and publication ethics. Editorial decisions will be made fairly and without discrimination.
If accepted, comments and responses may be published as separate contributions or in another appropriate format determined by the editorial team. Where applicable, the published discussion will include a clear reference to the original article. Any applicable peer-review procedures, publication requirements, and metadata or DOI arrangements will be determined by the journal according to its editorial policies and available publishing infrastructure.
Post-publication comments that raise credible concerns about errors, research misconduct, or violations of publication ethics will be assessed in accordance with the journal's relevant policies, including its policies on allegations of research misconduct, corrections, and retractions, where applicable. A comment or criticism alone does not automatically establish that an article is unreliable or requires retraction.
All participants in post-publication discussion are expected to communicate respectfully and professionally. Criticism should focus on the research, evidence, methods, interpretations, and scholarly arguments rather than on personal characteristics. Authors and commentators are responsible for ensuring that their submissions are accurate, appropriately referenced, and free from personal attacks or knowingly false allegations.
The editorial team will manage post-publication discussions independently and transparently. Any relevant conflicts of interest must be disclosed and managed in accordance with the journal's Conflict of Interest Policy. Confidential information received during editorial assessment will be handled appropriately.
The editorial team of KOMUNITAS: Jurnal Ilmu Sosiologi (COMMUNITY: Journal of Sociology) is responsible for implementing this policy and may revise it when necessary to reflect developments in scholarly publishing standards and publication ethics.
